We were there in September and couldn't believe how quiet it was. Also noticed that many of the shops were closed or boarded up. Restaurants (so many) were lucky to have 1 or 2 patrons which was such a shame because the food was absolutely delicious! Kuta beach on the other side of the island was very, very quiet too- so beautiful though (almost looked at the prices of land/houses up on the hill - decided against it but wouldn't be surprised if a few property developers get wind of it). Spoke to a few Sasaks who believe that Lombok is quiet because Bali is quiet and that they need the overflo from Bali for their local economy. Anyway, thought I'd share that with you. Thanks so much for your GBR, I only wish that a few more people would make the trip to see what Bali was like 20 years ago and visit Lombok. Cheers. Lisa
