Arrived from Perth on Saturday 1st March. Qantas Flight at 12.50pm arriving in Bali at 3.15. Quite busy thru customs and the usual white chalk crosses held us up a little at customs. We managed to get thru losing only 1 can of Pepsi Max (we bring it with us as it is quite hard to find in Bali).

Accomodation - Staying at the Kuta Townhouses. For those that are wondering about the 2nd Stage construction noise I must say that it is quite quiet. They are in the process of rendering the outside walls and removing the formwork. Occassionally you hear a loud crash but perhaps only a couple of times a day. Should be almost removed in the next few weeks. Not sure what the next stage will be but will post again once I return. Food as usual is good especially the Club Sandwich and Springs Rolls - a bargain at 36,000rp and 18,000.

Money - Saturday when we arrived was 8430 and has gradually dropped to 8250 today.

Weather - We arrived to torrential rain which cleared after a couple of hours and the past few days have been reasonably fine with the odd shower in the morning.

Food - We had a friend come with us just for the long weekend so thought we would take in a few of the finer restaurants. We had breakfast at Ma-Joly - American Breakfast 104,000rp ++ for more food than you can eat including perculated coffee and freshly squeezed juice. GADO GADO for lunch - excellent service and food - 675,000rp for 3 people for mains cocktails (2 each) and 2 deserts. KuDeTa for sunset drinks - 900,000rp for 3 people - 1 bottle of Aussie (McLaren Vale) white wine and 6 cocktails and 2 grazing plates.

EVE of NYEPI - We have just been for a walk around Poppies 1 and 2 and most of the little shops have closed and many of the restaurants have also closed. We have managed a booking for UN'S tonight for dinner.

Went to Carrefour today to stock up on supplies for tomorrow and looking forward to seeing the parade along Legian Street before dinner tonight.

Will write another report upon my return.

Apologies for any spelling mistakes - using a tiny laptop

Julie
