to the eye but under the microscope they look a bit like a tick or a crab. They live in infected cane furniture and women are more likely to be bitten than men only because women's clothing is a lot thinner than mens and also often shorter :)
I think the best cure is a large shot of antihistamine in the backside before the burning and itching gets too bad.
