If you know your dates then book. At least you know your going. Bite the bullet if specials come out.
Wait no less that 3-4 months prior in hope. For a special. Everything will go up as you get closer to the date - hugely. If no special comes then plan for another time that you get one within your budget.
Stairway of costs/profit. Top of stairs max price, in airline business as any all tickets would be good to sell at this price - bottom of stairs - least cost/ least profit.
There are data crunchers out there for this reason. 20% plane full -bugger lets release more ff's more cheap seats etc. extend the sale !! It can happen at any time.
