Like Christine said there are lot's of good restaurants nearby. (As the lane opposite Kuta Royal's driveway entrance leads you directly to Jl. Kartika). It's only a short walk and a great location for villa's, being so close to lot's of restaurants, shopping and waterbom park.
Some Restaurants:
Ile Cielo - New Italian Restaurant (as you enter Jl. Kartika from the lane go left and it's 2 doors up).
Khin Khao - Thai restaurant.
For the best Chinese food in Bali go to The Golden Lotus Restaurant (located inside The Dynasty Hotel).
Gracie Kelly's Irish Bar (located inside the Dynasty) for pub food.
Febris and Green Garden Restaurant.
Daddy's Cafe - Good for breakfast.
Pantai Seafood and Ma Jolly's (beautiful atmosphere on the beach) go left along the beach from the Dynasty.
Stadium Bar - Good food and big screens for sports lovers. (The tables out the back of the Stadium have a nice setting with a cool breeze in the afternoons).
Cafe Bantan Waru - Next to Bali Garden Hotel, has some lovely indonesian dishes.
Fukataro Bar and Grill for Japanese dishes.
Discovery Kartika Plaza - Atmosphere Restaurant located out the back of the shopping plaza overlooking the beach (also has free WIFI internet access if you want to take a laptop there). Also cafes, black canyon coffee, breadtalk, Krispy Cremes etc.
Bubba Gumps - (Forest Gump Themed Restaurant) specialising in shrimp dishes, yummy food and drink selection.
Plus many more to choose from.
Regarding the pool; it does not get packed and at times you may be lucky enough to have the pool all to yourselves. Depends on how many tourists are staying at the complex the same time as you. There are only a select number of villa's which are rented out to holiday makers as they are all privately owned. You won't have any problems of the pool area being over-crowded.
