No we haven't been before, we are going to head for Lakey Peak. We have been to Lombok though and we hired a car in Bali and self drove. Caught the ferry at Pandang Bai and then drove down to Kuta. This trip we will do the same, spend a few days at Kuta and then head for the ferry that goes over too Sumbawa and drive across to Lakey Peak. We go for 4 weeks so have plenty of time for the few days travel. You will hear some pretty horrendous stories of the ferry trip but we found it OK. We also take a blue chiller bag and make sure we have some cheese and biscuits and nibbles for the trip, you can get drinks on the ferry. The ferry going over had a nice outside area and we just sat there at a table, reading and watching movies on the portable DVD (a must when travelling with kids).
