we met Budi on the beach when staying at the Jayakarta in Sept last year. My 15yr old son got on real well with him as they exchanged guitar notes. As he told us that he didnt have good guitar and was borrowing this one from someone else on the beach,we thought we might buy him one in oz and take it with us in April as a gift.
Where I am going with this is I was just searching the forum for guitar info and found a jbr in July 2006 saying someone had bought him a purple guitar...Obviously other tourists have had the same thought...so do I get him a guitar or not?? we have kept in contact via email and I asked him to give me an idea of brands he thought where good....He came up with a Maton...when i searched it they are very expensive as they are made in oz around the $1000! way out of my price range...I've paid for our package now saving our spending money,I thought more along the lines of a$150 acoustic but I see that guitars are cheaper in Bali than here.He stays in regular contact via emails,so what should I do.I dont want to offend him with a cheapy from oz and has any body else promised him a guitar???
