We have stayed at the Patra with kids aged 3 & 6 years and again staying there this May with now 6 & 9 year olds.
The deluxe suites are huge like other message stated. The kids sleep on double fold our sofa in the lounge area and the bedroom has a huge king size bed. Overall very large suite with big bathroom etc. and bedroom and lounge room have tv etc.
As far as being located near the pool. This whole hotel and it's grounds are huge and really the only rooms that are super close to the pool are the presidental villa etc. Even the very expensive club rooms are set near the back of the grounds.
I am trying to explain myself very poorly here - sorry. The pool in The Patra is enormous and sits between the main building which is the restaurant and the beach itself. (Many hotels have the buidlings crammed around the centre swimming pool, but the grounds of this hotel have the rooms spread out in garden settings).
Overall it is a stunning hotel, with one of the best pools I have ever seen and wonderful staff. You will not be disappointed.
We did not use the babysitting service, but it has a BRILLIANT kids club.
