Let me be upfront it should be called the bali BUTT!!!!!
On the drive back to the Melasti from the Village I was feeling a little biot sharpish in the stomach..cramps, no problems I thought probably just because I ate SO MUCH!!!!!!
Day 5
I awoke this morning with a small amount of pain in my stomach, no dramas very tolerable, so I went for a run, got about a Kilometre up the beach and thought...OH DEAR, mistake for the holiday number two... and I use the number two term loosely, about as loose as my bowells were about to be, I ran the Kilometre back to my room in record time, running with cheeks clenched (not face)is something I would like to see someone else do as I think it would be funny!!!
Anyway we had a big day planned including a bus trip to Ubud markets, Bali Zoo, Gold and Silver Markets...I missed out, however my Daughters wrote in their travel diaries about it all.
Ubud - Now let me set the scene, my wife HATES shopping, yep and she is in Bali, she managed to come back with enough bags that would have the whole plane over the baggage limit, not just our family!!! She brought a lot of metal animals (fiah and lizards) and an abundance of wood carvings, I thought as I laid in bed, Dear God you have been good to me in delivering a wife who hates shopping, you now strike me down with Bali Butt and also turn my wife into a shopper!!!!! She actually loves shopping in BALI!!!!!
The day at the zoo was remarkable for the girls, they loved it, they had birds on them, had snakes on them, they played with animals had photos and generally had run of the place, from all reports it was a great great day.
My day consisted of... well you know what happens.
An interesting side note to my day, let me give you a tip, if you have an upset Bali Belly... DO NOT GET A FULL BODY MASSAGE.... when they press in one spot it releases another!!!!! enough said.
I had nothing for dinner that night and the family had a buffett late lunch so decided not to eat.
Day 6
No running this morning however I was feeling better and decided that we had nothing booked so we would try Centro. We had a look around there for a while and walked from Centro to Matahari's only about 200 mtrs. One of our guys had a run in with a shopkeeper on the way because he would not buy something from him, trhe parting comment from the shopkeeper was not good he said "You Aussies are bastards, we all hate you..Aussies are no good" now I know that this is just one angry man, however it did not sit well with us and we just left.
We ventured on back to the resort and as some of us play Soccer in Australia we had lined up a game of Beach Soccer with the Balinese team. We ventured down to the Beach Soccer field at Kuta, only for the team to not show, we spoke to a local who knows them and he said they had been called to go somewhere and would catch up with us later, I was still a bit sick so didn't mind claiming a win by forfeit.
We all went to Poco Loco for dinner, I had the Chicken Fajitas and they were very good, although I will say the place was not all that it was cracked up to be.
All in all I was just happy to be out of bed and roaming the streets of Bali again.
Although Tradgedy at the Melasti the 2 main pools were green and out of action for a few days.... what will we do.... there was plenty to do.
Oh did I mention that the kids had by now purchased about 367,456 DVD's
All in all another great fun day just hanging and chilling in Bali.
Day 7
Went for a small run because I didn't want to do the poop scoot again. I ate Breakfast as well, man am I ever living on the edge!!!!
We all met up out the front and had a bus waiting for us, we ventured to a small market forst and purchased some more wooden things (who is this woman beside me and what have they done with my wife). We then set about going to Git Git waterfall, the scenery on the way is breathtaking, quite spectacular, we eventually arrived at Git Git, and read a sign that said Waterfall 150 metres, we had to walk dowstairs, now this is where I learned that time and distance in Bali mean nothing, if a sign says 150m, it is more like 1.5km.
It was worth it, we got down th the waterfall and it is great, I quickly jumped in and under the falls, man they have some pressure, I hopped out and pulled a few leaches off me. My eldest daughter hates insects, so I didn't want to spoil her fun, I told her the water was great and I took her under the falls, we came out of the water and I said "Hey whats that leach doing on your leg, and that one, and that one..." she screamed the joint down, it was funny, I had to pick them off her, they were onl;y little ones.
She got me back though, 2 mins later I had to scratch myself in my nether regions, whilst doing so, she said "Dad leached can on them too you know.." My scratching then turned to frantic searching..
We then went further on in the bus to the Hot Springs, nice and refreshin hot water, just the relaxation we needed for the long trip home.
Oh I forgot to mention we stopped on the way at a forest full of monkeys, we purchased the fruit and started feeding them, great fun. I noticed a dog was with them bouncing around like he was a monkey, I had a hair brained idea and held out a banana for him, this next part is amazing, the dog took the Banana, held it down with his paws and peeled the banana with his mouth then ate it!!!!!!!
We went back to the Melasti after that and had Pata and Pizza for dinner from a Place called Goodys... I kid you not they have the BEST pasta anywhere and it costs 21000 rupeah a bowl, it is on the beach heading from Legian towards Seminyak next door to a Circle K.
Will add more to the story later.... what a bloody fun trip I had.
