Do you mind if I ask who you booked with? My friend just had an unpleasant experience with Holiday Planet. The girl who booked her was nice enough (although new). She was told extra 10 kg luggage in "Premium" , being introduced in April.
When she rang back to give the go ahead the person she got said "no" to extra luggage, then she went off and checked and said that was right. My friend also discussed travel insurance and was told their travel insurance covered airline insolvency/bankruptcy.
Before paying deposit she rang again to confirm the extra 10kg and also to ask a question on the insurance and was put through to the owner who told her is she was so concerned she should fly Qantas!!! He said he had flown all around the world with all airlines and wasn't concerned, and that no policy covered airline insolvency. When she said, "well it was "?" in your staff that told me" he asked this person who denied telling her!! (sorry this is turning into a book!!)
He then rang the insurance company and said, "you're right they do cover it". She made the comment that it would be a good selling point for the policy and it was good that he, as the owner, now knew about it. He told her that he didn't like to dwell on negatives and wouldn't suggest it to anyone!!
OK, my friend is a little paranoid after being caught out with Ansett and AP but surely travel agents can understand this?
