you were very lucky not to be charged any other flight, which is great ofcourse! I too have travelled exstensively and with approx 120KG excess due to equipment. And sometimes i was lucky not to be charged too. I think your surprise would come in that because you have travelled and not been charged on many occasions, it trips you or others up when it happens (of which the airline employee who makes descision not to charge should make a point of telling you and maybe even tell you how much they are NOT going to slog you)so then you are not shocked when it does happen. and sorry if you are offended by the know the rules but true. i just thought your statement was rather strong in that the reason you will never fly with them again is based purely on being charged excess luggage in a policy that is well known and yes, perhaps not policed by all airlines strictly but boy would we have more comments on the forum if it was!
