Had a few friends come back recently from bali and while they had a great time, a few especially the really experienced Bali travellers, have vowed not to go in Dec/jan again because of the inconvenience/illnesses and crowds.
My own trips to bali have only been in May and July and each trip of 2 weeks had only 1-2 days where it rained. Last July was fantastic with average temps in Sanur around 26C. August is just as good and cheaper because most of the Europeans have gone back home and Oz school holidays are over.
