As Im not a typist this will have to be in parts{sorry].
Stayed at Nusa Dua Beach hotel, this is a fantastic hotel. I would recommend this hotel to any age group. We knew what this hotel was like, however we previously stayed there many years ago and only for a few nights attending a wedding. Slight mix up on arrival however this was quickly rectified and all staff were friendly and couldnt do enough to please. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, rooms clean and functioning, if there was ever a problem again this was attended to promptly with apologies.
As I had collected copious amounts of info from the Bali forum site, I didnt think I would have anything to add however, I was wrong.
My recommendations to be added to Bali travellers is as follows:
1. Learn how to say in Indonesian ''stop,my daughter is going to be sick'', as our taxi driver mistook this as "put your foot down and drive as fast as you can to Kuta".
2.carry a platic bag in your handbag/backpack/pocket for emergencies as recycled bags just dont work the same way!!!
3.If you have an unwell teenage daughter who suffers from vanity, do not place them in the front seat of a blue bird taxi near the air. conditioning[this was on the return trip],as there isnt enough room between the drivers and passengers seat for her to fit through, whilst the car is moving. My daughter didnt want to throw up in front of the driver, anyway she did, as she was pushed back down by the back seat passengers and handed a plastic bag. Hence the driver started coughing and all windows were wound down for the rest of the trip. The contents of the bag was then handed back to Mum to take care of for the rest of the trip, then, we went through security at the enterance at both the Nusa Dua entrance and then our hotel. At the second check point Im sitting there like Jackie with my "bag" and the security men start checking bags, well, I got the giggles at the thought of what could happen if there the scanner went off with my special parcel. In the end all of us[including] the driver were bent over with laughter..To make amends to the poor taxi man I asked for his card and rang him up to take us to Kuta from our hotel, hence
4.If staying in Nusa area find a driver you like, obtain business card and get them to pick you up from the front enterance of your hotel, saves time and energy. Also if younger members of your family are travelling to other part of Bali unaccompanied, you know who is driving them.
Had clothing made at Janokos, really happy with results.2 dresses[day],1 casual pants, daughter had 2 dresses and a coat, husband 1 casual jacket.Very pleased with service and the best bit no bargaining over price, as I just walked in and said what i wanted and how much. I also noticed other people coming in for quotes and they were quoted the same amount as me for certain items. Goods ready on time, no hassles.
Went to the Kuta art market stall 111{bali forum info], lovely lady, again no hassles as she gave you a good price and was extremely co operative-thanks everyone.
Bought contacts in Centro, had to wait 7 days for one script, however went there on second day of arrival as BTF info said this could be the case.Coloured lenes 7 day wait also. No hassles here, very busy so be prepared to wait if school holiday period.Efficient staff, good service.
Till next time with part 2.
Cheers
