I always take cash, travellers cheques and Credit cards. If you have lost/stolen cash your travel insurance may replace maybe $200 if you are lucky but if it is t/c's you can have the whole amount you haven't cashed replaced within 24 hrs. Travellers cheques can be purchased in Australia through Australia Post for no commission.
