Brilliantly and very accurately written by Olias. All very good advice!

Just remember, any liquids (ie. alcohol, perfumes, aftershaves etc. - for presents or otherwise greater than a mere 100 ml.), all 'sharps' of every kind including knitting needles etc., and sporting goods including bats, tennis racquets, pool cues, cricket and golf balls should always be put into your 'Check In' baggage / suitcases.

Take your little plastic bag of Liquids, Areosols and Gels (including lip sticks, lip balms, eye liners, face creams and toners, out of your hand baggage before you go through the Security screening point. This will save you wasted time by having to have your bags manually searched.

Remember, only one bag per person and nothing larger than 100 ml. Security judge by the amount printed on the container, NOT by what is in, or left in the container. A 150 ml. (or anything in excess of 100 ml.) bottle of perfume or aftershave only half full (or less) will be confiscated by Security due to Government Aviation Regulations.

Take notice of the 2 big 'Traps'. Be aware! Whilst traveling Domestic within Australia, you can often be transfered to an International flight (even if just traveling from Melbourne to Sydney). Any alcohol, liquids, aerosols or gels in excess of 100 ml. in your hand luggage (which you would normally be able to carry in your hand baggage Domestically), WILL (unfortunately) be confiscated by Security at the International screening point.

To be safe, put any of these such things into your 'Check-In' luggage from the start - then you will have no problems of possible confiscation.

Secondly, if you are flying Internationally and are in Transit between Airports (Stop-Overs) DO NOT purchase any alcohol, perfumes, cosmetics or aftershaves etc in excess of the 100 ml. from Duty Free shops UNTIL your LAST Transit (Stop-Over) stop before arriving at your final destination. International security screening points whilst you are still in Transit, WILL confiscate any of your Duty Free purchases in excess of 100 ml.

Hope my advice and that of Olias will help you immeasurably. Pass on these important tips to all your friends who intend traveling Domestically or Internationally.

Regards, Mark L. Chambers.
