I saw plenty of game consoles over there, mainly in the department stores. But I'd buy the actual console in Australia, get it chipped here and then just stock up on the games over there.
You'll find some of the games you buy won't work. But PS2's a cheap as chips over here now, so I wouldn't risk buying one over there. Although you void the warranty when you get it chipped I think?
