We are about to start sending money to our friends over there for the same purpose and have asked around. Most places including through a bank charge around $30/time. We are going to be doing it via the internet from our bank account to his bank account and the Westpac have shown me how to do it. If you have internet banking, ask your bank what information you need from your friend and get the bank to show you how to do it. I was told by Westpac, it would cost $20/time, so it's a bit cheaper and gets there quicker, with less worries.
