- in Bali too and after several tries, involving considerable cost in some cases, we got a new Visa card and sent it to our friend (not by post) who signed it.
Just before the due date for her payment we deposit the required amount into the account here (we make the transfer on our computer - no charge) and she goes to an ATM on the due date and withdraws the money. She gets it in rupiah which does not give rise to any questions about where she got foreign currency.
We look at the account on our computer and can see evidence that she has made the withdrawal.
The Visa fee to us is about Aus$4, depending on the exchange rate, for withdrawals of up to Rp3,000,000.
