in bali nov last year asked whilst walking in Kuta if wanted hair braided, showed me picture of her work, looked good, how much 100,000 rupiah, enq if this was for the same length as in picture which was half way down girls back, yes, yes great come to hotel in 1hr, but bring some friends I said as I dont want to sit all day, yes I will bring 2 friends. Met in the reception of Jayakarta but only the girl from kuta & her daughter there, went back to room told lady dont forget I want them the same as in picture yes, she said & tapped on my shoulders, no, like the picture I said, oh this will be more, much longer 150,000, said not to worry as we had already agreed on price & length, not happy but ok she agreed. mother did the braiding & got the braids at the back started & daughter finished them off. when finished, they were only pasted shoulder blades and not very tight paid but not happy. left them in for 2 days. Braiding lady at hotel asked where I got hair done etc, told her I would get her to do my hair as she had done it in nov 06 when we were there & I knew it would be a good job. She took my old braids out and put new ones in, did take 4 hours but well worth it as the job was excellent, the only thing is to keep them neat & tidy they rub a glue over all the braids it is a glue like araldite or tarzan grip & this is what makes it difficult to get the braids out. I took me 3 hours to get braids out then I combed hair to get out bits of glue, this was agony then washed my hair & washed chunks, I mean chunks of hair down the drain. So easy to take care of, loved that I didnt have to blow dry my hair every day. By the way after my hair was braided by the lady in kuta found it really strange the when being offered braiding again other people had the same picture of the same girl with her hair braided, she must be really popular-ha, ha. Oh well you live & learn. The kuta ladies daughter also painted my finger & toe nails which she told me was 20,000 each thats ok, but when I paid her 140000 for the hair and fingers she tried to swift me for another 10000 saying that i agreed to 100,000 for hair and 50,000 for nails. I know that the amount of money is nothing to us, but I just did not like the fact that this women was out to get whatever she could. I was happy to pay 350,000 to lisa at the hotel, I knew once a price was set that was it and she would not try to get any extra and I also knew it was a good job. Anyway thats it for me & my hair braiding experience. When I go back to bali will I get my hair done again ? Yeah of course but this time Its better the devil you know.
