Hi guys, Hubby and I climbed Agung in August 2005 Independance Day. We are in our fifties and have climbed Rinjani, Merapi and Versuvius(can't spell that). Compared to the other volcanoes G. Agung was a more strenous climb (others took longer to climb so were tiring).Our guide was our Balinese 'son' and 3 of his friends. Got to the temple abut 10 at night, had something to eat and slept till about 1am and started climbing. Well worth the effort though when you reach the top. PS we both lost our big toe nails a few weeks later from shoes rubbing on the big toe nail, so proper climbing shoes would be advised.
