If you had to cancel for medical or similar reasons, you will be covered by insurance, but again, it depends on what cover you took and with whom. Have a look at your policy.
Hope it works out, Garuda charge about $170.00 per person for cancellation, check your travel documents or make your agent show in writing what costs can be incurred for cancellations.
