Some pay with their Gold Credit Card which includs insurance, some go with the company they have their car/home/health insurance with, some with their bank. AND then there are all the other insurers out there some that only do travel insurance.
Check what you are insured for, some only insure you for the trip to the airport!
Check the excess due if you have to make a claim.
Check that other family memebers maybe included free as long as they travel at the same time as you.
Check that you are covered for things that you may do eg. White Water Rafting, Motorbike riding or jumping on the back of one, quad bike riding etc.
These are only some of the things to watch out for, others will help out I'm sure. You'll find you may have to change insurers each trip to get the cover you need for such trip.
