The bag you get is usually the cheapest/best buy bag that the stall holder has purchased from the bag seller.
To test this theory just checkout the various bags that the Japanese tourist carrys. They carry every variety of plastic and are not known to bargain well.
Do Bali a favour and don't receive your purchases in bags - take a couple of green shopping bags from here and leave them with someone. start a new rumour - that green means a SMART shopper.
