Personally I think that the walk to Git Git may be a little too much for a five year old - and it's certainly not a walk where you want to be carrying kids. Ten year old might handle the length of the walk but when I was there it was very mossy and slippery...there were five of us (adults) and only two managed to stay on their feet the whole way.
Still heaps of other things to do though...have you tried Treetops? Safari Park? Zoo? Bird Park? Bounty Cruise and of course Waterbom...just to name a few. Kids would love all of these.
