Close to the Bali Zoo is the new Wildlife Safari Park. It only opened beginning of October & it is really fantastic, only costs about $US4 more than the Zoo. You travel around the park in small bus type vehicles & the animals are free to roam, except for the electric fences dividing the different compounds.
The zebras, camels, ostrichs come right up to the windows, with the entrance fee you are allowed a free photo with a 7month old white bengal tiger cub & an orangutan. It was the best day of my life, the staff are so friendly & helpful. The park is still building theme areas, like a water park and we saw the in-park accommodation area which is right next to a lovely restaurant with large glass windows & the lions are walking around outside.
They have a good selection of animals & I can only imagine it will improve as time goes by.
I know the Zoo needs supporting but the big cat areas there are not very nice for the animals, hopefully lots of people will visit both & keep the both going.
On my next visit the Safari Park will be the first place I will head for.
