I'm not sure how much they have done up the rooms since then, but when we were there they really needed a good clean!!
We were booked into the Besakih for a week, but as we booked direct we hadn't paid yet and the bathroom was so dirty we went looking for another hotel, walked the down to the Hyatt one way, and about 30 mins the other way looking at a few hotels and rooms.
In the end we decided to stay at the Besakih, it had the best pool and grounds, the rooms were a good size ( we also have two kids so had connecting rooms), the price was right at $70 Australian per room and it was definitely in the best spot.
The Griya was fully booked, if it hadn't been we would of thought about moving hotels as it was much newer looking, but still had a lot of charm, my sister stayed there with her kids and loved it.
I think the position of these two hotels is great, also the beach in front is wider than a lot of other hotels.
The Besakih had lots of character, but if their pools and garden weren't so nice we would of moved hotels, the pools are lush! even better than the photos.
