been requested to do this with our hotel that we have stayed at 7 times I advised that we were not comfortable with this, and also advised that a hotel we have booked for 1 week (we met the owner in Sydney last year) did not require anything, so they agreed to accepting our booking in good faith. I definately would not send credit details, maybe you could ask if you could bank a deposit????
