Clothing is 17.5% sales tax
Handicraft is 5% sales tax
Sales tax is added first, then GST is calculated on the new total.
No food items.
And certainly no fakes!!! Depending on company being copied and quanities fines could be anywhere upto $150 000.
Just be careful of 'brand items' as they just might be fakes as well or geniune via black market. Also depending on the brand (eg Disney) you may have to pay the licensing fee - Bali is not charged this as it is a poor country hence these products are cheaper.
Customs do full searches on containers on a random basis (some people say 1 in 20 containers) where they will search the whole container.
You would be better off putting your 'market purchases' in the container and bringing your surf brand and Matahari stuff in your luggage.
Alot will also depend on your shipping agent, so while over there in Bali contact them and they will advise what is ok.
The agents i use are very honest and offer sound advice on things of doubt.
