Tegal Sari is much further away from the market etc, but in my opinion, well worth the effort. Tegal Sari staff will drive you in and pick you up anytime, no charge.
I enjoyed UVH but found it closed in and clastrophobic. When I have been used to sitting out on the balcony at Tegal Sari, watching the every day life on the rice paddies, UVH just had nothing to look at except the high brick walls surrounding the private courtyard.
Tegal Sari rooms are larger and newer (super deluxe).
If it is purely location, so you can walk within 5 minutes to market, shops etc, then choose Ubud Village Hotel.
