Im a nervous nellie at times but still go to Bali a couple of times a year and love it. I have been abit scared, once when I came across a giant monitor lizard at Balian Beach!!
I simply do not go anywhere that makes me feel uncomfortable. Agree too, that I would not be caught at Manly Beach in Sydney after 10pm.
I just start to relax as soon as I am out of the airport.
