We have been in Bali over the past 4 Nyepi days.
Its a lovely day to be grounded at the hotel.
Swim, read, relax, mix with the staff.
Lighting should be minimal, keep curtains in rooms drawn.
(Rules for Nyepi say no 'communication' between couples, but I expect thats only for the Balinese! Must admit, didnt effect me either way, as I have been there with other ladies in March).
Hotels serve meals for guests, often buffet or limited menu.
Stock up the day prior if you want to snack.
There is not a car or motor bike on the roads. ALL movement is totally prohibited on the roads. No aircraft in or out of Bali.
Its amazing how you can hear the sounds of 'silence', maybe hear the surf rolling in, the birds, nature at its most pure!
At 6am next morning you hear the sounds of the first motor bikes and Bali awakens.
Be sure to go down to Kuta Beach, opposite Hard Rock Cafe area for the Kuta Beach market day after Nyepi. Its set up on the beach front and lots of different stuff is for sale. Aimed at locals, with fishing games, local food carts, stalls. clothes, shoes, art work etc and great fun.
The burned Ogah Ogahs are on the south side, towards Bali Garden Hotel.
