Do your home work. 2 trips back I booked basic package (airfare and 4 nites accom) through travel agent then negotiated price for the remainder of the holiday with the hotel direct. It was way cheaper than doing it through an agent.
On our recent trip (last Nov), I went to do the same thing as we decided to stay at the same hotel, but it was actually cheaper to do through the agent this time.
