booked direct with Garuda for airfare and have not had to pay until 4 weeks prior to trip. Not even a deposit. Don't understand why you have to pay upfront unless this is a new thing. My last trip was in Oct-Nov.07.
Also always book direct with hotel and pay at time of check-out. Once again no deposit or credit card details needed.
