You will find people trying to hire out motorcycles along Jalan Legian from Bemo Corner.

Expect to pay 25,000 Rp per day for a ten day hire.

Buy an International Driving License(IDL)before you go. It will cost about $A25 if you are a member of a motoring organization such as the NRMA or RACV. Hand over your IDL at the frequent road blocks, be polite to the police and you will be waved on.

Bring your own helmet and gloves. Wear boots, heavy jeans and a thick long sleeved shirt.

There is no real point in hiring a scooter just to tootle around Kuta and Legian. The one way streets, fumees, heat and problems in parking make an unpleasant experience. Hire the scooter when you are ready to explore Ubud, Lovina and Tirtagannga.
