Perhaps now finally those who have been trying to compete with others and outdo their gifts will take a step back and realise what they are doing. Recently someone mentioned purchasing ipods for their sponsor children. Clearly it was not considered that the children's homes probably don't even have electricity let alone a computer so how are the kids going to recharge the ipods or access music to download. It is about time people wake up and realise that gifts like these are inappropriate and not necessary. Sponsors are already supplying these children with the gift of education and the future opportunities that will arise as a result of that education. Expensive, unrealistic gifts only benefit the person giving them by making them feel good but are of no use to these kids. They can also segregate these kids from their friends as they are getting special treatment the others are not receiving.
