I had food poisoning once at Linas, so I rarely go back there. Might have just been bad luck, I had Ikan Bakar, and it was several years ago.

There is plenty of accommodation choice - if you are looking for cheap, losmon style then Lina's is ok. Around the same price range you can also stay somewhere like Santai Beach Inn which has a great deal more charm than Lina's (traditional grass roof hut with hammock on verandah in gardens overlooking sea), but is 4 km north of Senggigi in the Mangsit area.

Also in Mangsit, a bit more upmarket (and with a pool) try Holiday Resort, or Qunci Villas. I also hear that Bulan Baru is back under the former management and is getting back to the former (excellent) standard and value for money.

Just south of Senggigi in Batu Bolong is the newly opened Beach Club - they have a pool and one or two cottages now available.

Over on the Kuta side (where the beaches are much whiter) there is Novotel, and also several cheaper options such as Mimpi Manis homestay.

I wouldn't recommend trying to go to Lombok for a day trip. It is a lot of travelling. It would be a bit like trying to see Bali on a day trip.

Enjoy!
