There are actually 2 doors in the door jam between interconnecting rooms (one for each room) so you could keep one door open and have access from the other room or both doors closed if you wish.
The way the internal doors are set up you wouldn't need to leave your room, go into the hall and knock on the front door of the adjoining room.
Not all odd numbered rooms in the 300 block are interconnecting.
