We stayed at Patra in August and you can get to quite a few by walking along the beach front. Our standby fave is Green Garden which is just over the road from the old Bali Hai (currently closed). Green Garden will take you home for free if you don't want to walk back. Up this street is SA Cafe, very cheap and cheerful but nothing to rave about. On the beachfront is Pantai cafe, a great for lunch as is right on the beach so lovely breezes and good cheap food, good shopping lane just up from here as well. Next to Pantai is Ma Jolly, french upmarket, I haven't been but have heard good things.
While a bit isolated it is a lovely hotel. They have a shuttle bus which will take you to kuta and only 14000 by taxi.
