glad to read that your daughter wants to see free dolphins, its the best way to see them !
if you go to Lovina, and go down to the beach near the dolphin monument at sunrise there will be a heap of little fishing boats which will take you out for about 30000rp each.
it can be magic or chaos, depending on the amount of people there each morning. I always stay at the Aditya but there are many hotels that are lovely.
that being said, there are dolphins all around the coast of Bali so there are bound to be others you could see free and wild in the ocean.
I know NOTHING about the bike rides as I, like you, are convinced I would be crippled by such a day. I am well past my push bike riding days and it is so hot in Bali, I really wonder why you would bother?
Taxi's, yes there are lots at the airport and a booth where you buy tickets.
I looked into the VIP VOA and might consider it for my next trip as I really don't like standing in line any more. (absolutely HATE coming home and standing in the customs hall for hours) It costs about $20 US I think but I am also not sure if it is still operating. A company called Travelco Bali was doing it but there may be others.
