My neighbour recently sought out, with difficulty Ketut Liyer in Ubud. They were thrilled to have met him after reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
He was in 'session' with a local when they arrived and waited their turn. Some of the younger family members showed off their artwork and the girls bought. Ketut also produced some fantastic paintings and offered to personise and sell to the girls. They were more than happy to pay 150 and arrange to come back in a couple of days to collect the finished works. They did change their minds when they realised that not 150,000rp but us$150 each.
Yes maybe Ketut has been influenced a little by Oprah's recommendation (of reading the book) and his now worldwide fame.
Cathy your trip sounds like it was very busy but great fun.
I look forward to reading your next report.
Thanks for sharing.
