No I think the better way to do it is to put the current AUD$ rate in your calculator then press the M+ button (or is it the M-?)
Anyway, it's quite easy after that. Next input the price or charge of the item you are considering then press the divide button, the one with a horizontal line with a dot above and below it. Don't get confused with the % sign that's not the right one. Then press the RM button (hopefully your calculator has one other wise you are up that creek if you know what I mean. Then press the = button and presto! Instant conversion! If you are bargaining however, please refrain from doing any calculations until you get the price you are happy to pay. If all fails use your 8 x tables.
1 x 8,000 = 8,000
2 x 8,000 = 16,000
3 x 8,000 = 24,000
and so on.
