Well what can I say, 14 days + 1 because plane delaided. Bali was heaven as usual, little bit hotter than in June but then who cares, its Bali.
Started off at Melasti Beach Resort with girl-friend for 4 nights, then she went back to Perth and I went to Suriwathi in Garlic Lane,
I love this place, the staff are great and the location is everything.
Did the usual shopping, did I mention shopping, went to Ramana (dont know how to spell it but you guys know what I mean) great sale, brought for grandkids, daughter, son, nothing for mum, whats new!
Did the volcano, I have been to Bali about 10 times in the last 4 years and it is the first time there, nice drive, hawkers were as bad as everybody on forum has said, just ignore and get in the car. I was a bit worried about the buffet so stuck with of the menu, it wasnt busy so dont know how long the food was there. We stopped on the way back to take some photo's of rice terrace and boy did the hawkers come out of the wood work. One even climbed into the back seat I was sitting in, had to give them "A" for effort so brought something.
We ate and drank at "Ricky's Bar" in Legian most nights, this is a great lay back place and Ricky and the staff are great. Good place to start the night off and then go nightclub or something. Did the "Legians BBQ" on Friday night, great night. There was a guy from Perth there that did a "Drag Queen Show" he was great, he was a big guy and when he came out with G-String up his bottom everybody was in fits of laughter.
Went to orphanage and took sausages, salad, buns, sweets and toys over with us, we had a great night with the kids even though we all ended up with nits (treatment next day got rid of them), friend with me wanted to bring them all home to Perth with her. Got "PICK POCKETED" in Garlic Lane on the Saturday night. I went to money changer and when I came out got called over to Stall, guys all around and boy they are good as I had my hand in my pocket, except, for when I reached up to take down a shirt, did not feel a thing. After saying all of this I cannot praise the Balanise people enough for their kindness and affection they showed me when I was there, they have mavoulous memory's and remember my name from months ago. I did not get the hard hard sell very often even though I know how hard they are doing it at the moment, the only place it was like that was as I said the Volcano and Tanalot.
I had a wonderful time with my balanise friends and cannot wait till I return in the next 12 weeks.
