None, dont bother. Either change at the airport moneychanger or out in the street as soon as you arrive at your hotel (or at hotel reception) I expect you will get a much better rate at the Bali airport, rather than at home.
Do most shopping places, hotels & restaurants accept American Express?
I think Visa and Mastercard are more readily accepted.
Is it OK to take Neurofen Plus into the country? Its the only thing that gets rid of headaches fast for me but I know some countries do not allow it.
I personally think that would be fine.
The only thing they seem to question us on is the amount of duty free alcohol. They have never properly searched our bags.
We are staying at Bali Padma Hotel in Legian - what are the absolute must do's during our stay?
Great location, beachfront in Legian.
Visit S & S which is a short walk from Padma, heading south, back towards the airport. Across Jl Padma from your front entrance, Mandira Hotel is opposite. Walk along the paved walkway past the Mandira to the break in the beach wall, at the end of the Mandira, start of Legian Beach Hotel. You should meet some other Bali forum posters there.
I love to show newies Tanah Lot temple, Uluwatu, maybe visit a monkey forest, see the terraced rice paddies.
Its worth your while to get yourself a driver and take you on individual tours/day trips. There are lots of recommended drivers on this forum. I personally prefer Wayan Merta.
Shop at Carrefours, Geneva, Melasti market, Ketut (just behind the market, very close to Padma Hotel)
Make sure you position yourself prior to sunset and enjoy the moment (cocktail in hand can add to the moment).
Go with an open mind and heart, dont worry be happy, take care all the same and enjoy enjoy enjoy.
