We go to the southern end of Sanur for hols every year for 6 or so weeks and I think actually that Rons advice is very good.
Maybe tho, on the spas, travelling into Kuta/ Legian/ Seminyak can be a little tiring and having done the rounds in Sanur, the choice is very good.Esthetic, Puri Santrian, Mecure all good. Depends on the girl, but to me the cheap spas are a bit rough (personal opinion only).
I also think choice of restaurants by Ron is great. We've had Blackie at Kesuma Restaurant especially prepare us some fantastic seafood dishes (even lobster), just catch him of a morning and you can tee him up.From his little place you can even watch the sun go down. Our most special place in Sanur, is Pergola, right up the northern end, but would also recommend all that Ron has suggested
We love walking round the place too, and from Emerald villas, you can head down south towards the harbour, then in and around some of the backstreets, lots of locals just happy to say hello early in the morning. If you head north along the beach, you can just walk for miles(14 I beleive) and there tons to look at or stop for a snack.
Never been big on night life in Sanur, (too much walking),when we do its then that we will taxi over to Ku de ta or Hu'u or one of the hundreds of great night spots along that western shoreline.
Good places to shop? Well, depends what you want to buy. I like Sindhu market (tootsies) because she is fixed price and you dont have to haggle. Once all the other stall holders see that you have bought from her they will match her price.
On drivers, well, they are abundant and all need the work. Taxis are everywhere and so reasonable. Our fave driver is wonderful, but he'll only drive 3 days a week, and then he's always got family business!.
Sanur has so much to offer sometimes we dont even get over to the other side. Enjoy your holiday...I'm so jealous
