No need to pay big money for a passport - around 250,000 - 350,000 for the 'slow way' or up to 800,000 if you need it in a couple of days. If there is no mad rush 350,000 should be all you need to pay.
You don't need connections. Every Indonesian citizen has a right to obtain a passport.
