many of the 10 pound POME's (yes it is POME as it stands for Prisoner Of Mother England)came here because they were skilled. My family emigrated as 10 pounders becaue my Dad was a quilified Boiler Maker and Welder and also a Plumber and at the time there was a shortage in WA. I guess one could say that the only really true Australians are the Aboriginese as everyone else came from other lands.
