In the past Garuda used to let me take extra luggage free of charge for the orphanages - but Garuda no longer fly from Brisbane, so recently went with Jetstar. I wrote to them and they told me that it is their policy to stick to their 20kg allowance and that they dont make exceptions for donated goods.
