do so many people come to Bali to shop at shopping centres. Isn't it much cheaper to stay home and do it ? The prices at most shopping centres is (in my experience) very similar to prices in Australia (and i'm from cheap old Adelaide). Yes, I shop at Pepito (to get my Meadow Lea margarine and some snags with flavour) but most of our shopping is at the "local" supermarkets (Trolley, Jimbaran) for food and drink but all our clothes, cooking gear, hardware, etc., are bought from the local shops where we pay a fraction of the supermarket/big-store prices. And it helps the local economy in a much bigger way (not France - Carrefour, America - ACE, Jakarta, etc.). Now I know not all the gig stores are foreign or Java owned, and I know they employ locals, but how about the little local guy who struggles to make a living.
Please, give it a thought.
