Hi,
Our age group :)
Heaps to do for over 60s. As always depends a bit on what you are interested in. Stamp sets are available from most Post Offices ( Post Offices are orange ) some supermarkets have sets ( Kencana supermarket Jln Legian towards Jln Melasti did have them. )
Suggest you get a driver - so many to select from - as with many many other people we have our driver and become part of his family - in truth there are so many good ones. Prices have been discussed many times on the Forum but 300 000Rp to 400 000Rp ($40 - $50 ) per day is giving him a very good price. Our friend Wayan is an older driver. We have organised shedules with him for quite a few first timers. He knows everywhere, speaks very good English and will not rip you off or take you to places so that he gets a "commission".
Suggest trip to Ubud - on the way you go through the silver village, stone village, wood carving areas and painting ( pictures not house painting ). Each area has its speciality. With your own driver you can get him to stop wherever you like. Monkey Forest in Ubud is worth a visit.
Fire and Trance dance one evening is different. One possible place is Uluwatu near the temple - Uluwatu is well worth a 1/2 day trip.
Shopping - depends on whether designer stuff or market gear ( in recent years the quality of market gear has improved greatly.)
Shops for tourists - Matahari in Kuta, Carrefour ( Sunset road by taxi ), Ramayana Denpasar .
If interested in nature The Bird Walk in Ubud - but an early 9am start and 1 hour to get there.
Day trip to Kintamani - start early to miss the tourist busses.
Walk along the promenade at Sanur - very different from Kuta.
Sunset at Tanah Lot ( try to get a cloud free day ) leave Kuta at 3ish and spend time at the markets.
Relax and enjoy. Get to bargain for most things and enjoy.
Any more questions or need driver Wayan's contact? Send another posting or email direct and we'll try to answer.
