Check in at the business class counter and insist on business class seats for the Qantas sector. Star Class is not as good as business class but it's better than economy.
My advice is to ring Jetstar (and Qantas) and have them book the seats you want now, I did and they were fine. You can use the lounges at Brisbane and Sydney.
The only thing you may want to check is whether you arrive at the domestic terminal in Sydney in which case it is up to you to collect your bags and get to the international terminal.
